The Lake County Family YMCA has policies in place for the benefit and welfare of our members, guests and our organization. All policies are approved by the Lake County Family YMCA Board of Directors.
AGE GUIDELINES
In order to provide a safe and positive experience for the youth of our community, the following guidelines related to facility use by Y members and guests will apply:
- Children 12 and older may attend the Y on their own.
- Children 8 through 11 must have a parent present in the building at all times.
- Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
FITNESS CENTER
Children under 13 are not allowed in the fitness center. Members or guests must be 16 or older to use the free weight equipment. Youth ages 13-15 may use
cardiovascular equipment and machine weights after completion of a required orientation with a personal trainer prior to use of fitness center. The cost of this orientation is $25. Please visit or call the Welcome Center to make an orientation appointment.
FITNESS CLASSES
Class participants aged 12-15 may attend fitness classes when accompanied by a participating adult (this excludes
fitness classes designated for children).
AQUATIC CENTER
Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older). Lap swimmers must be 13 years or older.
LOCKER ROOMS
Children ages 5 and under may use the opposite sex locker room if accompanied by a supervising adult. Children 6 years and older must use the same gender locker room or the
family changing room.
USE OF CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Due to advances in cellular and video technology, and for the privacy and protection of our members, we ask that members and
participants adhere to the following guidelines:
- Use of electronic devices is not permitted at any time in Y locker rooms.
- As a courtesy to other members, please set phones to silent while working out.
- Please limit phone conversations to the lobby or
- non-workout areas.
- Taking photos or video is not permitted on Y premises without permission from the executive director.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Y is a safe and fun place for everyone! It is our expectation that all members and guests will follow basic rules of conduct that
support the Y core values of caring, honesty, respect and
responsibility. Thank you for making the Y a great place.
BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS
Refrain from abusive or offensive language. Mistreatment or
harassment of Y members, guests or staff is strictly prohibited.
BE RESPONSIBLE
The Y is a safe zone. Use or possession of drugs, alcohol or
weapons is not allowed in Y programs or facilities and will result in criminal penalties. Unsafe or dangerous behavior will not be
tolerated.
BE HONEST TO YOURSELF & OTHERS
Theft or damage of property belonging to the Y or its members will not be tolerated and will result in criminal prosecution and loss of membership.
DRESS & ATTIRE
As a family organization, the Lake County Family YMCA encourages members and guests to maintain an appearance that is not disruptive, distracting, nor offensive, and that does not present health or safety concerns. This may include, but is not limited to, clothing and jewelry that carries sexual, vulgar, or offensive messages or references, including pictures of the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Additionally, in workout areas, closed-toed athletic shoes and workout tops are required. Proper swim attire is to be worn in the pool and spa areas.
GUESTS
We encourage members to use their complimentary guest passes. Each membership receives three guest passes per year, and additional guest passes may be purchased for $10 per adult or $5 per child. All guests must present photo identification and must adhere to facility guidelines.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY
Y staff members are CPR, First-Aid and AED (automatic external defibrillators) trained and certified. Please see a staff member immediately if someone needs assistance.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Please take special care in locking up all personal belongings in both the locker rooms and in your vehicle. The Lake County Family YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE
The Y occasionally video tapes/ photographs its members and participants in various activities. Some of these photos are used in Y marketing materials, ads or brochures. If you do not want your photo used by the Y please step out of the shot or notify the photographer before the picture is taken.
PROGRAM REFUND POLICY
- A full refund is available if the Y cancels a class and during Member and Open registration weeks.
- Once late registration has begun, a $50 cancellation fee will be assessed and the remainder of the class fee will be refunded in the form of a credit voucher good toward another Y program. Credit vouchers expire one year from the date issued.
- No refunds or credits will be issued once half of the session has been completed.
- The Y is unable to issue refunds or credits for classes missed due to illness, schedule conflicts or other personal reasons.
- Please allow up to 7-10 business days for processing of refunds/credits.
