On Stage Theater Programs

ON STAGE
Childrens Theatre Program for 1st - 8th grades

This widely popular program is in its 7th season and we want to see YOU up on stage this year! Cast Members will have the oportunity to sing, dance, and ham it up on stage in four full length productions this season. Three seasoned and experienced directors are waiting to work with your little actor. Final performance will take place on the awesome stage at the College of Lake County!

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"

Fall II - "Annie"
Performance date: Sunday, December 21st @ 6:30pm

Winter - "Broadway Revue"  POPS Performance
Performance date: Sunday, February 15th @ 6:30pm

Spring I - "Into the Woods Jr."
Performance date: Sunday, April 27th @ 6:30pm

Practices are Saturdays 12:30-2pm and Tuesdays 6-7:30pm

(4 and 5 years old)

Performance date: Thursday, October 23rd @ 6:30pm

Fall II - "Peter Pan"

Winter - "Broadway Babies II"

Spring I - "Jack and the Beanstalk"
Performance date: Thursday, April 9th at 6:30pm

ON STAGE SR. STUDIO PROGRAM
(6th-9th Grades)

This program is designed for the older more serious actor, and will allow the cast to build characters, address some serious and comical acting challenges, and perform in a studio like atmosphere. The performances will be small and personal, and the focus of the program will be to challenge the actors and increase their skill. This program is limited to 12 participants and auditions will be required.

Fall II - Improv at its Best!
Performance date: Saturday, December 13th @ 7:00pm

Winter - "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown"

Spring I - Actors Monologues
Performance date: Saturday, April 18th @ 7:00pm

 Practices are Wednesdays 6-7:30pm and Saturdays 10-11am

Martial Arts

United Tae Kwon Do

 Develop a non-aggressive method of self-defense, self-discipline and self-control. 
The study of Tae Kwon Do enables the participant to build the skills necessary to balance spirit,mind and body. Uniforms are required and can be purchased after the first class. 
Ages 7 and up only.

Karate

Traditional Karate-Do Organization offers the highest quality of instruction in both the physical and mental aspects of karate training. Physically, participants build coordination, agility, stamina, stregth and poise. Mentally, participants will develop self-confidence, self-control, and self-respect.

NEW!!! Aikido

Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement. Aikido is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on.

Monday/Wednesday -  3:00 - 4:30pm - Children 6-15
Saturday - 10:30-12:30pm - Adults

Fee: $60 per 8 week session


Beginner Piano Lessons

New music programming at the YMCA brings you beginner piano lessons. Each lesson will progress in 1/2 hour intervals and take place at the Central Lake YMCA. Children will learn individually, and take lessons using a full size keyboard. Lessons are taught by our Program Director Lauren Jochem, and arrangements can be made to coordinate a schedule of 8 lessons per session. Space is limited.    

  $100 Member/ $135 Non-member


Sports

Put Play in your Day! 
1st-5th Grades

This program will get your youngster active and off the couch for an hour on Saturday morning. Participants will have fun with relay races, basketball, T-Ball, Kick Ball and so much more. In the cooler weeks we will still be outside if weather permits, so please dress your child appropriately.

Saturday - 9-10am
$75 Members / $90 Non-members

Archery
1st-5th Grades

This popular program is back for its second year this fall! Participants will receive quality instruction in the sport of archery. Whether they have never used a bow, or seen an arrow before...we make sure they hit the target with this program. Archers will receive a free YMCA Sport T-shirt with registration.

Saturday - 10-11pm
$75 Members / $90 Non-members

Cheerleading
1st-5th Grades

With this sport on the rise, we want to recruit your little cheerleader for our Y-cheer Team! Participants will learn basic sideline and floor cheers, increase their tumbling skills, perform beginner and basic stunts and have fun! Each cheerleader will receive a set of pompoms and a YMCA cheer T-shirt. Participants should come to practice in black or red cheer shorts, white socks and white athletic shoes.

Saturday - 11:15-12:15am

Teen Programs

YMCA Leaders Club
5th-8th Grade

This program will engage your young teen in service initiatives and special activities at the YMCA. Participants will discuss what it means to be a positive role for each other and in their communities. They will build successful relationshis, and learn something new about themselves each week.

Thursday 6-7pm
$30 Members and Corporate Employees / $40 Non-Members

YMCA Advisors
9th-11th Grade

 

These young adults will engage in several activities including youth mentoring, volunteer work, career exploration, youth program development and much more. Participants will help with community and local YMCA initiatives and get involved in programs such as YMCA World Service and Activate America.
